A life of sin… ahh, sin city. since it’s birth, las vegas has long since held up to it’s reputation. tourists come and go daily, a constant blur of faces. it makes crime and danger here a given. sure, the beauty and magnificence of the vegas strip is a sight to be seen. But gangs, thugs, and thieves all prey upon the casino-goers with their pockets bursting with money. to top that off, the supernatural predators here seem to make off fairly well, feeding themselves off those who search for all the wrong things in sin city. what happens in vegas truly stays in vegas.
A life of mystery… for many in area 51, its actually a life of torture. you see, inside the government base of mystery is not hidden aliens and ufo’s but instead, something far more real. delving deep beyond the ground level is an entire city meant for the supernatural. werewolves, vampires, and witches –plus every other thing of your nightmares- exist here. rather than being terminated as they are found, the united states government has chosen to experiment on them…but that’s not all. they are training them, improving them…all for the purpose of warfare. after all, no one fucks with the good ol’ u.s. of a. how did it start? well, the species have their own tales to tell. long ago plague spread through the world, creating what he know of the vampires, werewolves, and wiccans. but that is a tale for another time. many of the core species had died out at the hands of hunters, leaving only a few hundred spread throughout the world. into hiding the survivors went and deep into the ground, buried forever were those who did not make it. when the remains of the nearly extinct monsters were found, it was a spectacle. hysteria and excitement spread throughout the deserts of nevada, where they had been found. but the government quickly stepped in, silencing all rumors of monsters among us. it was said that all the discovered artifacts were destroyed but that couldn’t be farther from the truth. in reality, they were taken into hiding, to be preserved at area 51. each time something was found, it was quickly confiscated, supposedly to never see day light again. so what was really happening there? testing, experimenting, evolution…all at the hands of the scientists at the base. when the base was first established, sometime in the 50’s, those who came across these supernatural relics were fearful. on the few occasions a live being was brought into the building, they were poked and prodded like science projects. It was painful and cruel, like torture. to agents, however, it was a learning expedition. while they were all intrigued about these monsters living among the mortal race, they too, were afraid. and so, it was why death was eventually the future of all who were brought to the compound. but as technology evolved, so too did the thinking of the area 51 workers. they saw the resilience and strength of these monsters and pondered how it could be made to their benefit. from old bones and remains of the dead, scientists began to chemically create supernatural creatures. and then, they began to force them to turn others…normal humans into vampires, werewolves, and many other horrific things. why? so that america would have a super army when world war III landed upon them. heathens were what they were called. so what happens there today? oh so many terrible things. some supernaturals are still being manufactured in the compound. others are captured and brought in. those who refuse to train and fight, who refuse to give their obedience over…well, they die. of course, that’s only after they’ve served their purpose as lab rats. those who show allegiance to the government are allowed free reign at the compound, sometimes even let out into the world. but they are always kept close, ready to be taken down. let’s be clear about this – this is not the place you want to be. and those are not the people you want to find you.
And a life of blending in… the lockwoods are not an angelic family, make no mistake of that. the eldest brother has a laundry list of dirty deeds on his wrap sheet. but regardless, the heathens headquarters are run with good intentions. it is there, under the council of the lockwoods, the original wiccans, that all are protected. any supernatural being is welcome under their roof, with the sole understanding and expectation that they are to do no evil. and frankly, it doesn’t matter if they do good either. it is a place of neutrality, created to teach those with claws, fangs, powers, or whatever else, how to simply blend in with society. the headquarters were originally designed as a safe place from hunters but soon it turned into so much more than that. when it was discovered the area 51 was torturing their kind, the lockwoods opened their doors. so why the name heathens? it was what hunters and area 51 agents have referred to their kind as for many centuries. rather than sugarcoat it, they adopted the name. if they were going to be heathens, then so be it.

A new, horrifying chapter ...
at this point in time, it's well known among the supernatural community that area 51 has been creating and experimenting on supernatural beings in order to be ahead of the game. while other countries were messing with nuclear warfare, this is what's been in the shadows of the nevada compound. but now, things have reached a new terrifying height. an ancient native american relic was discovered in the nevada desert and it's inscription was translated. it told of a dark magic, strong enough to overpower the mind and body of all beings, whether mortal or not. area 51 scientists quickly went to work using the magic of the relic, empowering it's test subjects. they were impressed by it's ability to create super warriors, strong and unable to resist their demands...like an army or drones or zombies.
but worse yet, the scientists failed to have the entire inscription on the relic translated. where they saw the advantages, they misread the dangers. the relic is not wonderful at all, but instead a deadly curse. those who touch it are immediately affected, with little chance of recovery - their death is inevitable. these beings have been released directly into the heart of the city, with the hopes of attacking all rogue supernaturals and bringing them to area 51 to serve as warriors. it is the secondary victims of the curse(those who are bitten, scratched, etc) who have a glimmer of hope at recovery. their recovery, however, is dependent on breaking into area 51 to get to the relic...you know, the very place they try to stay away from.
The Infected.... there are a few things you should know about the infected and how to spot them. The infected from area 51 are essentially NFC characters...this means they are not played by anyone but are imagined to be about roaming the city. These characters will eventually die as a part of the curse, but for now, are controlled by the scientists who have the relic. Any current or new characters to the site can be infected, WITHIN reason. we will put a ban on them if there becomes too many. though the curse is black magic based, it is spread like an infection - through bite, scratch, blood share, etc. Those who are infected may not feel all that different to start off with and frankly, may not look that different in the beginning either. But as the curse spreads, it poisons their mind and blackens the soul. Blackness starts to spread from their heart outward, creating a diseased look to the flesh. Amnesia begins to attack the mind as time is lost to the person. During these lost moments in time, the curse takes over, making the person do as the curse so desires[or in this case, brings them to area 51 as they hold the relic]. It causes mania and loss of clear, rational thinking - many who are afflicted try to harm others or even are driven to suicide.
While this a temporary plot, you may temporarily change your character group to the cursed so we know who is who. Please contact an admin to do this.
