Love is a Bitch Damn it. Two words that’s become a part of Emma’s vocabulary for the past twenty-three years of her life, and she was pretty sure she was saying it inside of her mother’s womb. Damn it. Why does everything have to be so hard? Why does she have to stay home and live the life of a mother, when she never even gave birth, much less find a guy to settle down with to have a family in the first place. Honestly, she wouldn’t be able to do it all without her best friends coming in to check on her and in some ways, she envies her friends’ relationship. They’ve been dating since high school and it’s kind of what Emma wants outside of just taking care of her siblings. Don’t get her wrong, Emma loves her brothers and her sisters, but there must be more in life than just being a care-giver or a make-shift mom… At least by now she knows she will be a fucking fantastic mother and a lot better than her own mom, rest in pieces her soul. The one thing Emma made clear that nobody should talk about in the house is their deceased Ma because what comes with it is the reality of her death and whose fault it was.
Emma isn’t going to rehash anything she doesn’t look back and like a shark she will always move forward. Right now, she can’t afford going back, which is why she keeps the kids going and moving to their goals of at least graduating from fucking high school. Emma wants them to be better than her and not dropping out of Highschool, when she came so close to finishing with a well-earned GPA and promising career in teaching…. Of course, she did all of that to take care of them in her efforts to keep them falling like their mother did, at least one of them made it out and was making a life for himself... On so many levels Emma is happy for Chuck as he did the one thing she wants all her siblings to do and that’s graduating from high school and making a life for yourself. Chuck did both of those things, so Emma isn’t complaining or always on his back about somethings. He is a grown ass man now, so he needs to handle his shit on his own, but of course his nosey sister will peep in occasionally.
Emma sat at the kitchen table with a beer in hand as she listened to the silence of the house as all the kids were at school, so she got the entire house to herself…. Moments like this, Emma appreciates so much as its very hard to have silence with three teenagers still living with her… Emma cannot wait for them to graduate and head on out the door, but she does know it won’t be immediately not with the cost of tuition now and days… Maybe Roman might have some pity on them and pay for their tuition, but Emma is stubborn and probably wouldn’t take the money herself. The kids maybe different because they liked Roman, though Emma has some issues with him that are deep and conflicting.

Inception shows me as a dead man walkin', But reflections shows this kid's still got it it'd only been a few weeks since chuck had been back from maryland, having graduated from his premed studies, but he sure as shit didn't miss las vegas. walking the streets of his childhood hometown, the memories flooded back to him in an instant, as though he'd never left. none of the memories were all that desirable, mind you, so one can imagine how unpleasant of a situation it was for the twenty-one year old. despite emma's protests, he dropped out of his medical school plans to move back home and help out with their troubled family. he told himself he'd get back around to it and had even done the daunting task of enrolling himself at the university of las vegas. but studying was proving to be harder than he anticipated, what with chasing after his siblings and all.
the whole point of moving back home was to help with his siblings, which he was doing in full force...but that wasn't the only thing on his daily calendar. on top of school, he'd gotten himself a job at the morgue in attempts to earn some internship credits that would help him later on down the line. so far, it was proving to be an exciting job...but not exactly the kind of excitement he'd been hoping for.
chuck typically took third shift opportunities so that he could be home in time when everyone woke up. but a few issues arose that prevented him from leaving on time. it started with some unwelcomed news from the other morgue assistant he'd been boning as long as he'd had the job. she was weird but the sexy kind of weird, enough to get him excited about her...and so he'd been fucking her. she presented him today with the fact she was late on her period, suggesting a pregnancy that neither of them were all that into. the distraction of that caused a rift in his usual work habits, setting him off his usually-focused schedule. the body he was set to prepare for the medical examiner was proving to be exceptionally difficult with his distracted mind and it led to chuck being covered in bodily fluids. he spent a great deal of time cleaning himself off before finally punching out after such a daunting shift.
there was a lot on his mind as he shuffled down the street, cigarette clenched between his teeth. generally the train was his usual mode of transport home but he figured he could use the walk to clear his head. only thing was, he got lost in his thoughts. how he was going to handle a kid, help emma out, and finish school was really beyond him. the part that was the most trouble was the fact that he wasn't sure what sort of freak his kid would end up. to make matters worse, the usual haunting that accompanied him popped up in his peripherals once more. out of all the abilities his piece of shit father could have passed onto him, it had to be seeing dead people. oh fun.
"hi mom." chuck spoke to her as he always did, hoping if he was kind she'd up and leave...or perhaps act her normal self. instead, she was like a poltergeist, one that chose to torment him. her skin was burned and boiled, left in the same manner it was upon her death. and of course, all she did was scream at him that they murdered her...that her kids had killed her. it bothered chuck greatly but he kept the secret to himself, for fear of upsetting emma further. he knew she held a great deal of guilt in her heart and this was the last thing she needed. and so, he continued on his path home, listening to his mother spat horrid things at him. well, at least he forgot about his pregnant fuck buddy for now.
chuck finished his cigarette as he reached the stoop of the house, flicking the butt into the street before heading inside. to no surprise, he caught emma in the kitchen with a beer, chuckling lightly. "so we're day drinking now, are we?" chuck teased his sister with his usual air of sarcasm, casting a glance around the house. once upon a time there were toys that littered the place but now, it was beer bottles and ash trays filled with cigarette butts. the kids had graduated to harder things and despite emma's constant disapproval and nagging at them to quit the poor habits before their started, it was a losing battle. logan in particular was going to do whatever the hell he wanted, without anyone telling him differently. chuck absentmindedly threw a few of the bottles into an empty bag, tossing them on the floor in the kitchen momentarily until he could take it to the garbage later. he wasn't always the most present but he tried his best to help em out; he knew she deserved a break.
he tried real hard to focus on the blood on his shoe, which he'd apparently missed when cleaning up earlier. instead, he was doing a piss poor job and was sure emma would pick up on something negative going on in his head. shit. well, at least he had the pregnancy news to break to her first, hopefully deflecting away from the whole dead-mom-thing. Love is a Bitch Emma took a swing of her beer as she leaned in her chair, before sticking a leg up on the dinner table enjoying her moment of silence. Honestly, she would be yelling at the kids if they placed their feet up on the table like she is, but she brings the money in the house as well as taking care of their asses. Emma doesn’t want to her complaining, but she definitely doesn’t want to appear as a hypocrite either. She does feel as if she has been a sucky role model for the kids because of all the beer bottle and the cigarette smell in the house, you won’t find that in uptown households. Emma is new at this parent thing, hell she shouldn’t have to raise three people in one house with an income that sucks ass. Constantly they make ends meet by the edge of their teeth because miraculously Emma comes through with something as well as the child support Roman continues to send them makes it easier. Now, Roman believes their mother was getting the money, but its been Emma taking the money and using it for the kids. Hell, its better that Emma gets the money because it will actually go into helping the kids and snorted up her nose, much less injected into her blood stream.
Honestly, if there was an award for what Emma has been doing for the past few years she should be more than nominated. Emma should win that bitch. Emma sacrificed her entire life for her siblings and she will work hard to make sure that they get everything that they need to be successful and be more than regular. All of this work she does for her siblings and for them to just be regular will definitely piss her off, or maybe cause a protest… At the end of the day it is their lives and Emma can’t do everything for them. Like Chuck for instance, he dropped out of his premed studies to come and help Emma out with the kids, which was a noble decision for him to do that as it will help Emma out a lot. The problem is Emma wanting Chuck to do more and be more than a kid from the hood helping his family out… She doesn’t want him at home or getting a job that pays lesser than the money he would be getting with a premed degree.
Emma took another swig, before she watches the backdoor opening with Chuck walking through it and she smiled with the roll of her eyes, “Go fuck yourself, Chuck.” Emma kids with her sarcastic brother as its all with love because she loves that little genius, whether he pushes himself or not. Emma sat the beer down on the table, before getting up to see what her brother was up to and already she could sense something was up. Anything related to her powers Emma would equate that with the word ‘uncontrollable’. There isn’t anything Emma could do to control her powers, other than going to Roman for help, which she is too stubborn to do. Emma would rather continue reading people’s thoughts on a whim, hell its helps with the parenting. Chuck had his back to Emma when she tilted her head with a frown as she sensed the mood he is in, or was in…
The elder sister placed her hands on her hips as she watched Chuck pick up the beer bottle and placing them in a bag. “Thanks, Chuck,” Though, she was folding her arms now with her hip stuck as she gave Chuck one of her looks to get him to talk. “Chuck, look at me,” She said with a concerned tone, “Whats wrong?”
