— IT'S LIKE THE TIDE, ALWAYS FALLING AND RISING ❞
Life for Elaine had been the same for the past couple of years. Each year changed into something new and different from the last, and yet she felt like she was in the same rut as before. There was always something that stood in her way, and she wasn’t about to let this year change that. Having graduated from college a few years back to the moment, she lost her mother figure; Elaine had been desperate for something new. Her job, as she liked to call it, was going well. Writing for those that needed her advice and help, writing down ideas and stories to share that could become something more, she enjoyed it. Sure it wasn’t much money, but it did bring some cash in. Enough to get by with at least.
At least, she had made a few friends along the way that she could share her journey with. Maybe that was why Elaine found herself closing her laptop; the barren word document lost as she quickly removed herself from her bed. She needed to get out of the house, needed not to think about the muse that she lost for her next blog post. Elaine didn’t even dare look at her email, scared that so many people would be writing to her while she was in her stage of uncertainty. She couldn’t think of anything to write, and maybe she needed a distraction. Quickly wandering around her room, gathering up clean clothes to wear she was quick to take her shower, brush out her slightly wavy hair and brush her teeth. A part of her wasn’t worried about makeup, but she was quick to brush on some nude lip gloss, put on lightly colored eyeshadow and add mascara.
She wore a simple pair of jeans, a nude color blouse and added her sneakers to the mix. She wasn’t a fancy person, though she did have time where she wanted to dress to impress. But going out and meeting up with friends, she didn't need any of that fancy stuff. Without even thinking, she quickly texted a group of her friends,
She quickly hit send, and without giving them a chance to respond, she grabbed her bag and her keys before heading down the steps. “I’m heading out!” she called out to the quiet home, unsure if her mother or father were home before quickly removing herself from the entrance and out the door. If no one showed up, then she'd have to drink by herself. Maybe she could meet someone, and they'll buy her a drink.
It didn't take long before she pulled up to the usual hangout, a place that had become the local hot spot for her and a few of her friends. Quickly she parked, removed herself from her car and disappeared into the familiar setting. For being early in the night, there were a ton of people filling the place. Hanging out, making out, drinking and dancing. Quickly she made her way over to the bar, putting herself in the usual seat and waited for anyone to text back or show up. If not, looked like she was hanging out with whatever kind soul came her way.
