+when thy power can but whisper+
The sun rose high, and she rose with it. The Kitsune Empress stretched as the sun fell across her form, slipping through the sheer curtain surrounding her bed. The plush, silk covered mattress moved with her as she moved, the thin silk sheets gently draped across her form were slid off her as she came out from the bed's confinement. Her long dark tresses fell about her face and she sighed as she stared off into the distance at the desert landscape just beyond her home's domain. Oh how she loathed the sight of it; nothing could ever compare to the wilderness of Japan or the extensive maze of lovely houses beyond castle walls.
"Annalise.." she softly called out, standing up to approach the window. As if on que, a light haired young lady entered, draped in the same finery expected of a chinese empress' attendant. "Yes, mam?" The kitsune paused and turned from the window to look at the girl. "What have I told you to call me?" The attendant fumbled for a moment and gave a bow as she revised her words. "I am sorry, milady Chiyoko." The empress nodded and motioned for the girl to rise. "I need to get dressed.." Annalise moved towards a flower carved wardrobe, opening it up and pausing to look back to Chiyoko. The kitsune looked back towards the window and pointed towards a much more intricate wardrobe, white with phoenixes across the front. "I will be making a visit today. Some of my finer silks will be appropriate."
The girl closed the first wardrobe and moved to the white one, opening it and revealing a white and red outfit, laced with gold, both of dyed thread and of true gold thread. Thus the process began, layering the elaborate dress about her form, then moving on to her hair and makeup. Annalise had been well trained in how to arrange the empress' hair, from the simple to the extravagant, this time being the latter. Makeup quite possibly took the longest, going around the hair and taking care to keep off her dress, the last details being her lips and a delicate, flower-like marking upon her forehead. Finally, she stood up, her outfit falling about her as she straightened and admired herself in the floor-length mirror with a small smile upon her lips. "Excellent job, Annalise. Go and tell the others to prepare, then do as you please for the day.. Just return at precisely nine tonight." The girl bowed, smiling and turning to almost run out the door.
Chiyoko sighed as she watched the girl leave, reaching up to touch the window frame as she looked down upon her property. Despite her best efforts, nothing would ever be the same.. Nothing would ever be as it once was, 'modernization' had ruined everything. She was now a relic of the past, a creature that was left behind as the world moved forward. Her face turned very still and emotionless, like she had suddenly become a piece of marble, and with that set in place, she moved through her rooms and out into the hallway. The sounds of furniture being arranged and the smell of freshly cooked meats filled her nose.. Especially, lamb. Ah, such a tender meat if cooked correctly, and doused with the correct amount of spices. Lastly was the smell of tea being brewed, something that brought a smile to her lips.
As she descended the stairs, she paused to stare down at how her driver and attendants were dressed. All in fine oriental style clothing, and all a wiccan or creature of some sort, ready to fight if needed. However, she worried not about fighting, she was not in this dress for a war. "Did you get the package?" The driver nodded and one of the attendants offered it to Chiyoko. The kitsune smiled and took it, opening the box to look upon the folded, silk and fur cloak within, admiring its golden clasps. A good present as ever, and she handed it back to the attendant. "And my blade?" This was also handed to Chiyoko, a sheathed katana, handle and sheath tarnished with the signs of use and age. A weapon that had severed many a head from shoulders.. A intricately spelled, silver coated blade. This she tucked within her robes, fastening it underneath where it would be ready.
As she slipped out the doors, she entered into a elegant limousine, a small car just behind it. The attendants followed her into the car, and after they all loaded up, they left her elegant mansion towards the desert. A old road led them through the barren deserts of Nevada and after about an two hours of travel, they reached an old farm home, long forgotten by human eyes and only recently found by that of a fox and a wolf. Once they reached the area, Chiyoko remained inside the limo, watching as her attendants darting in and out of the place with many different items, food mostly, but other things to make the dilapidated place more.. Homely.
Once they finished and the driver opened her door, the kitsune exited with poise and grace, quick to get inside of the home. There sat a small table, two chairs, and a variety of food and drink upon the table. As soon as Chiyoko gave the place an approving once over, she shut the door behind her. The kitsune watched through the window as her attendants and drivers left, making her completely alone in the desert. Exactly as was intended to be. Whilst waiting, the empress would pour herself a cup of tea and look over the other drinks with distaste.. Mead was it called? Bah, alcohol was alcohol in her mind. At least there was tea and clean water to choose from.
Empress Shunlie stood facing the door, tea cup in hand as she sipped away, awaiting her 'guest'... And watching the time. This kitsune never liked to be late and never approved of being late, much less others doing so. Especially if she was the one to have arranged and prepared for this little 'gathering'. It would be inexcusable and dishonorable..
